SHARING A FEW WINTER MORNING FARM LOVELIES TODAY. IT IS SOMETIMES HARD TO GET ON MY BOOTS AND CARHARTT ON A COLD WINTER MORNING, BUT GOD’S BEAUTY REWARDS ME.

I’ll be honest. Most mornings I do not go out on the farm. My kids and husband do most of the outside work and I stay in by the fire. But, last night’s light snow and then the rain in the night left a pretty icy texture on the farm and enticed me out. So glad that I went! Winter morning farm lovelies were abundant.
I grabbed this shot of this birdhouse I built from an old rusty tin can and vintage door knob over 15 years ago. It has aged beautifully.

We planted this blue spruce outside our bedroom window 25 years ago when we built our farm house. It was just 2 feet tall then, but now towers 5 feet above the roof line. Doves and other singing birds take shelter in its branches and wake us up to a melody each morning.

The bing cherry buds in the orchard around the yard are safely encased in ice this morning. But just around the corner is a warm spring day that will cause them to slip out of hiding and bloom. Only 5 more months until fresh cherries to eat!

This is one of our laying hens. She thinks our yard is a much better place to hang out and scratch than the pasture today. I found her in the flower bed this morning.

A skiff of snow and ice left on the old wringer washer in the yard brings out the beauty of the rust and age. In summer I like to fill this with water, a pump and pretty glass balls. The sound of the water trickling out of the wringer into the tub is soothing when we are sitting on the porch.
I rode out to the pasture with my 16 year old son as he fed the cattle. They were excited to see him with some fresh hay. At the moment we only have 3 bred cows, a steer we are raising for our family beef and one miniature Hereford heifer we are trying to sell.

Last summer’s crab apple tree dripping ice is definitely one of my winter morning farm lovelies. This big tree was once a 12″ seedling we got free from the Arbor Day Foundation. It is also absolutely stunning in bloom.
Thanks for joining my little tour of winter morning farm lovelies
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of the farm on this winter morning. I plan to do a post like this once a month or so throughout the year so you can enjoy the seasonal changes at the farm along with us.

Thank you, Angela!
Thanks Angela! It is definitely a work in progress. I enjoy the photography part when I get good lighting. My house doesn’t have the best light for pictures but the farm ones turned out great!
