I HAVE COMPILED MY FAVORITE FARMHOUSE STORAGE CONTAINERS ON AMAZON TO HELP GET YOUR HOME ORGANIZED AND LOOKING BEAUTIFUL!
Did your best intentions about not bringing a lot of new items into your home over Christmas get away from you? Or are you just ready for a fresh uncluttered look for the new year? I am!
With nine people currently living in our home ‘stuff’ can easily take over. That not only means I have to be careful about what is brought into our home, but also I must have a designated space for everything. Using small containers of various kinds helps me not only keep things organized, and sets limits on what can be kept and stored.
Tips for corralling clutter using my favorite farmhouse storage containers
- Size the storage container to what needs to be stored in it. If the container is larger than needed then other things seem to find their way into the container, ultimately making more clutter to sort.
- Consider solid storage containers to hide things you want to keep at hand but clutter up the room if seen. I keep my camera equipment at hand but out of sight by putting it inside a cute basket on a shelf right in our living area.
- Use wire mesh storage containers to organize things stored inside a closet or pantry. In this way you can quickly see where things are to both access them and to put things away.
- To keep the look calm, choose solid color containers and match your them to the most neutral color in your room. In this way they will disappear even when out in the open.

GALVANIZED BINS
Being a farm wife, I love all things galvanized! I am always find great uses for the galvanized farm pails and stock tanks around the farm house. These two styles of roomy galvanized storage bins in a six pack or a two pack and would be equally at home in the great room as the garden shed or garage.
NATURAL WOVEN BASKETS
Natural baskets are a great all purpose storage container that look natural and earthy in any home, but look particularly great in a farmhouse style home. I use them in my sewing room to hold sewing projects and in the bedroom to hold books by my nightstand.

GLASS STORAGE JARS

Anchor Hocking 1 gallon jar, set of two. You just can’t beat this classic, whether for the kitchen, bath, laundry or craft room. I store all my home made granola in these jars.
Cracker Jar with Brushed Aluminum lids. Come in Quart size, set of 4 and also gallon size.
Set of 3, Le Parfait Super Jars (96oz). These jars are tough, seal tightly and look great! I use smaller ones for my keeping my Einkorn Sourdough Starter.
4 pack of 1 gallon glass jars with airtight plastic lids – I use these in my sewing room for ribbons and wool felt, in the kitchen for sauerkraut, milk and dry goods. Love them!
And not to be overlooked…. the humble mason jar! Being a home canner, I use mason jars many times each day in our kitchen. My cupboards are stuffed with them! I use Quart Jars for canned fruits, veggies, beans, meats and syrups, for dry storage for seasonings, dried fruit and seeds and for refrigerated foods like yogurt and fresh made ketchup and bbq sauce. You will find my spices in 8oz jars, juices and dry goods in 1/2 gallon jars and Pint Jars are my favorites for jams and jellies and even for drinking glasses!

I’ve enjoyed catching up on your blog! Very Farmhouse on Boone like. 😉 My family made most our food from scratch, but since being married and having littles, our food has suffered greatly. You’re nudging me to get back to healthier cooking! (Though how do you find the time to do it all with littles?! ;-))

Hi Laura. Good to hear that you are moving back to healthier cooking! Just take it one thing at a time until it becomes routine, then add another. All these things have been added to our lives over a period of many years so don’t worry that you are behind. The beginning is a great and exciting place to be. Also, I think my littles are not so little as yours and they are great helpers in all we do here in our home and on the farm. So glad you are following along! And thanks for the compliment on being like Farmhouse on Boone! Lisa is fabulous and a great mentor to me also.
