LIVING THIS BEAUTIFUL FARM LIFE TO THE FULLEST; FRESH NOURISHING FOOD, WHOLESOME LIVING, AND SIMPLE FARMHOUSE BEAUTY
HEY THERE, SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE! I’M JULIE!
For over 33 years I have been the wife of a wonderful, steady farmer who has encouraged, stretched and loved me well. We are blessed to have 9 wonderful children ages 30 to 5 years, two beautiful daughters-in-law, and 8 sweet grand children.
I grew up in
During that time the Lord has taught me a few things…about Himself, myself, my roles, gifts, talents and passions. I hope to share them with you here and my prayer is they will be a blessing to many.
What I am passionate about
Home – Our home is a place of ministry. As I strive to make my home all God desires, it becomes a place of blessing and witness to others.
Although I am very VERY involved in helping my husband all that I can in our farm business, I am really a homemaker at heart. I could putter the day away in my home. Cooking with farm fresh food, doing the mountains of dishes and laundry, training and educating our youngest 6 kids, singing along with Christian music, making our home a welcoming haven of food and rest for our family and others, tending the yard and gardens, piecing beautiful grand-baby quilts in my sewing room, and creating beauty in our farmhouse are all close to my heart.
Family – God has placed children in our family to raise to His purposes and glory
I love our crazy big family and it is wonderful to dedicate myself to the growth of our family mentally, physically and emotionally. To help them become passionate about God and His calling on their life. This is a big job and many days looks pretty messy, but I’m trusting God is in the mess and will work it to His glory.
Gifts and Talents – Using all the Lord has granted me for His greatest gain
I LOVE to create! In the garden, kitchen, sewing room, around our farmhouse and in our farm business. I constantly am thinking up new fun, beautiful and creative things for our home, family and even our customers. I used to feel a bit guilty about this because my mind goes to this quicker than the spiritual side of things. But, then the Lord showed me through His Word how much he loves beauty, has designed beauty in our world and how He put this desire to create beauty inside me…it IS spiritual…and I can use it to bring Him glory! He gave me this desire to make things beautiful!
Clean Living – I am a steward of the health of our family and our land. The healthier we are the more God can use us.
I have a thirst for all things natural and healthy and have studied healthy diets, fermented foods, natural home cleaning, medicine and body care. Along with that I have studied how to grow clean healthy foods in our garden and on our farm. In the summer I love to run barefoot, nourish my family with healthy foods from the garden and fields of our farm, and put my hands in the good clean soil.
A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
- I have had pumpkin pie every year for my birthday since I was a little girl
- I hate to wear socks and shoes
- I love to mow the lawn, although, with six children at home I don’t do it often
- Those that know me well know that I don’t ‘idle’. I love to work. I actually have to work at NOT multi-tasking….and relaxing. And it is common for me to have more than a dozen projects and study topics in the works at any time.
- I would choose an educational video on youtube over a movie any day
- My one Sunday snack food I would never want to give up is ice cream
- I excelled in sports in school and never took a single home ec class, yet now I love being a homemaker
- My dream ‘mom vacation’ would be a few days in the mountains in a cabin with a stream (or snow) just outside the door. Of course, I would need my sewing machine, latest quilt and crochet projects, my Bible, a notebook, graph paper, a quilt magazine, some great worship music, chocolate covered almonds, and a couple encouraging books on faith and parenting. A time to rest, pray, renew, let my mind wander and make lists of things God is leading me to learn, build, study and create.
- There are few things more wonderful to me than a day on the ski slopes with all my kids and
grand kids .
