This Beautiful 7 Step Fall Coffee Table Centerpiece is sure to enhance your home. With just a few items already in your home, you too can build a winning fall display!

More than likely you have a coffee table in the main living area of your home. Since this is in the very heart of your home it is a great place to make a beautiful statement about the current season.
I found our coffee table years ago at a yard sale. It is essentially an old oak drum style dining table that has been lowed to coffee table height. It is a serviceable piece that has held up well to our many children and grand children over the years.
What I like best about the piece is that it is large and round. Large enough for our family to gather around. Our living room isn’t large by any stretch of the imagination. But, we do make room for this piece because we use it every day.
My portable fall coffee table centerpiece
Almost daily you can find our family using it for school work, board games, card games or puzzles. Additionally, I love to display decor accents on the table as well and often those two uses don’t mix well.
For many years I had a small fabric runner as a grounding piece in the center of the table. On that I would display candles, antiques, and other decor items. But to move it to use the table was a multi-step process. And when it was time to put it back on the table it all had to be arranged again.
That is when I came up with my portable table display idea. With these 7 easy steps to a fall coffee table centerpiece below you can have a beautiful fall table in minutes that can easily be moved out of the way or even from one location to another without any fuss.Â

7 Step process for building a quick fall coffee table centerpiece
- Select a favorite tray, platter, cutting board or otherwise fairly large, flat piece that you can build your centerpiece upon. This piece needs to be strong enough to hold all your decor items when moved. Having handles, like mine, is a bonus but not essential. It is also helpful if this piece is a single neutral color and not patterned.
- Pick one medium to large size primary decor piece from your home that you love and that represents your style. Make sure it is mostly neutral in color. This could be a lantern, bird house, pitcher or other similar item. I chose an old antique scale for my table.
- Choose a smaller secondary decor piece with the accent color of your room. This may be the color of your couch pillows or wall decor. Make sure this item is a different shape and weight than your primary piece. Old books are excellent for this because they can be used standing or lying.
- Add in one to two favorite small accent pieces. These pieces add interest to your display. I used a bird and nest in mine.
- Mix in one ‘filler’ piece. This is an airy, light weight piece that pulls the display together. A good choice would be a faux floral piece like a branch or vine. Again, a neutral piece is best
-  Pick one medium, ‘weighty’ fall piece, such as a pumpkin. I chose a scruffy white pumpkin from our field for my fall centerpiece to keep my room neutral.
- Last, consider adding a small sign that expresses a simple fall sentiment similar to this ‘blessed’ sign.

Quickly change your fall coffee table centerpiece to span the seasons
At our busy home I don’t have time to redecorate each season. Nor do I want to store a lot of extra seasonal items, like faux pumpkins, that I only use for a few weeks a year. For this reason I want all my decorating pieces to be very simple and span the year.
I curate my decor items to only the things I really love. Things I never tire of displaying. In this way, with only a minimal amount of tweaking, with mostly fresh seasonal materials like pumpkins and flowers, my decorating can jump from season to season.
Take my fall coffee table centerpiece. After Thanksgiving I can simply remove the pumpkin and set in a white poinsettia or amaryllis in an antique pot to make it work through Christmas. I could also exchange the white berry vine for a real or faux greens branch.  Â

Seasonal variation ideas
- For winter put in a crock of wintry greens from your yard and return the berry vine.
- In spring put in a white pitcher and cut a fresh bouquet from the garden each week.
- Summer could be a pretty piece of china or a bird house.
- A bowl of apples or pears would be perfect in early fall.
- Change out you table display as often as you choose. Monthly, seasonally, or with the holidays.
- Occasionally rearrange or even replace the key pieces that stay in the display with each new addition so it stays fresh.
- And, if you tire of having this display on the coffee table, just pick it up and move it to the dining table or kitchen island.
